The Man Behind the Mission: Meet Nermin

My Journey: From Refugee to Tennis Missionary

My earliest memories are shaped by movement, not stability. Born in 1990, my family and I were forced to leave Bosnia during the war when I was just three years old. We lived in Germany until 1998, when we relocated to Sydney, Australia.

It was in Sydney in 1998 that I discovered the sport that would change my life. My mother enrolled me in a school holiday tennis camp, and I fell in love immediately. For a child dealing with the trauma of war and displacement, tennis was more than a game—it was a source of joyful effort and a powerful mental outlet. On the court, I could forget everything and focus only on the ball. Tennis didn’t just teach me a sport; it taught me valuable life skills that shaped who I am today.

My Professional Path: 18 Years Coaching Excellence

My passion quickly became my profession:

  • Elite Player: I trained professionally, earning a scholarship at the Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre via the NSW Institute of Sport. By age 17, I was ranked in the top 150 players in Australia.
  • Early Coaching Career: I began coaching at the age of 17 at prestigious venues like Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre and The King’s School. Over the years, my experience expanded across many locations, including Sydney University, Killara Lawn Tennis Club, and Milperra Sports Centre.
  • Building Tennis Mission: I’ve been coaching consistently for 18 years now. A few years into my career, I started working for myself. Today, at 35, I’ve coached hundreds, if not thousands, of tennis players at every skill level.

My Mission: Why Tennis Mission Exists

I founded Tennis Mission because I am determined to change the experience of tennis coaching. This business is built on the belief that growth should be fun, clear, and supported by a strong community.

The Tennis Mission Manifesto

My mission is simple: to build a fun, vibrant tennis community where passionate tennis players of all skill levels can connect, grow, and achieve their goals.

I do this by providing proven tennis coaching and fostering a supportive environment where everyone helps each other to get better.

  • We believe in Proven Principles—rejecting confusing noise for simple, repeatable, effective training.
  • We prioritize Community over Competition—you train with a tribe committed to your success.
  • We commit to Joyful Effort—rejecting the painful “grind” for high-energy, passionate learning.

If you’re looking for a tennis coach who understands the technical and mental side of the game, and a community committed to your success, you’re in the right place.

I am Nermin, and I look forward to helping you achieve your mission on the court.
